Why Marriage is Important

The most important decision anyone makes in life is the decision whether or not to receive God's provision for sin. The second most important decision is marriage!!! Our marriages are created to mirror the relationship Jesus has with us, His church, His bride! Our relationships with God and our spouse must have first and second place, with everything else flowing from this order.

God provided for healthy marriages by giving us direction and guidelines in His Word, as well as healing for areas where we 'miss the mark'. Just as He died and was resurrected, so shall our marriages be brought back to life if we stand up and receive the fullness of His provision!

Though the direction seems simple, application may be much more difficult. Some unhealthy marriages may be restored with one act of 'standing up', while others become like punching bags, standing up again and again only to be punched back down. Then still others may appear healthy on the outside, but inside there are festering wounds that have been hidden with scars.

Internally unhealthy marriages grieve God just as much as those appearing dysfunctional externally for
all to see. Is it right to deceive ourselves into thinking we are honoring Him with a marriage that 'misses the mark'? Sin does not honor God, so a marriage like this is dishonorable.

Should we, then, continually allow ourselves or our spouse to live a life less than what God purposes for us and deceive ourselves into thinking it is honorable? Is it wrong to reach higher and strive God's best?

God may need to tear down a lesser vessel in order to replace it with an honorable one. Sometimes the onset of this process makes things worse instead of better. Are you ready to stand up for the marriage God intended for you to have? An honorable vessel built strong to withstand the turmoil in this life and still glorify Him? Not to stand up in criticism or complaint against our spouse, but to stand up for both of you for more of God?

Marriage is not an accomplishment to be achieved. It is a garden to be prepared, planted, fertilized and weeded for the best harvest of family, happiness and joy. Never take ANYTHING for granted. Don't let one day go by without connecting. It is a marathon, not a sprint!

Our Statement of Faith

We believe in One God, in three parts- Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We believe in Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, Lord over heaven and earth, Head of the Church.(John 1:1-4,14, Rom 8:9,11, II Cor 13:14)

We believe in His complete deity and humanity, that He is fully God and fully man, born of the virgin Mary, living a sinless life of obedience to the Law of God. (Rom 1:3-4, John 1:1-14, I Tim 3:16)

He became the perfect and only sacrifice for sin, offering His life through death on a cross as a ransom, shedding His blood for the forgiveness of sin, reconciling us back to God. After three days He bodily arose from the dead and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of the Father. (Eph 2:8-9, Tit 3:5, Gal 2:16)

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who by regeneration applies to lost men the saving work of Jesus Christ, who empowers the Christian for service, and enables them to live a holy life. (Mark 16:20, II Cor 5:17-19)

We believe in the physical, eminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ, looking for and hastening the day of the Lord who is judge of all living and dead. (Rev 20:11-15, I Cor 15:13-17, John 14:20 & 23, II Peter 1:4)

We believe in the bodily resurrection and righteous judgement of both the saved and the lost. (Acts 26:8, Rev 21:11-15)

We believe the Bible is the literal, infallible, and inspired Word of God, and is the final authority on all matters of faith and life. We believe that when matters in the scripture appear to be ambiguous, the Christian should seek wise counsel of several witnesses, such as Pastors, Christian leaders or elders, through leading of the Holy Spirit, and the non-contradicting Word of God for direction. (Matt. 24:35, II Tim 3:16-17, II Pet 1:3-4, Rom 14:4-5, Phillipians 2:12)
