Why I Choose Jesus...Bri's Testimony of her death and journey back....
At 6 months old I had cataract surgery. At 2 years old, unexplained projectile vomiting began. I started getting massive headaches when I was 3. I would grab my head and scream, and it would leave as quickly as it came. My parents took me to doctor after doctor, yet MRIs, scans, and tests showed nothing...a year of frustration and heartbreak for my parents.
My parents were involved in the worship/prayer team from our church. One night, the Celebration Ministries Director, Cynthia, said “Good night Brittany, I will see you tomorrow at church!” I said, “No you won’t because I will be in the hospital.” An hour later, I started screaming and was rushed to the ER. My parents didn't know they were in for a literal hell of a faith-shaking journey, and their little girl’s fight for life was about to begin.
More Tests and scans, but this time, the doctor told my parents the unthinkable, “Your daughter has an inoperable golf ball size brain tumor on her brainstem. If we operate, because of the location, it could cause irreparable damage". They asked God "Why are you allowing this to happen to our child?” , feeling every emotion possible, sadness, confusion, anger.. All they could do was hold me tight and cry on the longest night of their lives. The next morning, the neurosurgeon came into my room and told my parents to take me home, get my affairs in order, and make me as comfortable as possible because their child had less than 6 months.
Before I was discharged, a pediatric neurosurgeon came in and said he was going to do surgery. My parents were ecstatic, but he added that there would be complications. I was taken to ICU to prep for surgery the next day. My parents were drained mentally and emotionally, and called friends and family to get a prayer chain going. My dad called Cynthia and Dave, and they were shocked. Cynthia said “that night at home group we said goodbye to Brittany and that we’d see her at church on Sunday. Her response was ‘No you won’t because I will be in the hospital.'”
That night before surgery, the nurse came in and told my mom there was a visitor to see her. She greeted the lady but didn't recognize her. The unknown lady said she heard our story and said "I had a dream last night and had to come tell you. I saw a ball of yarn with a rubber ball in the center of it. As people were picking around at the yarn, it opened so they could pick the ball up.” The lady explained “The ball of yarn represented the nerves that control the body wrapped around your daughter’s brain tumor.”
Thursday morning, October 31, 1996, my parents prayed over the surgeon. Our whole church came to the hospital, along with friends and family. The chapel and many other rooms had to be opened for so many people that came to pray and stay with my parents during what would be a 10 hour surgery. Every hour a nurse would call and give my parents the status, but 4 hours in, the phone calls stopped. My parents kept asking the nurse for an update. After the longest 3 hours of my parents' lives, the calls started again. They were quick, that 'she was doing well'. After an excruciating 10 hours, the surgeon came out to the waiting room where my parents and those praying were waiting. He explained how the surgery “went better than expected.” He then pulled my parents aside to explain what happened when there were no calls… “She died." he said. "We pronounced her death". I am certain my parents heard crickets. He continued “I did not do this surgery, there was someone else in that room.” Though not a believer, he knew Jesus had guided him through the whole thing. (My parents had prayed over him before the surgery and told him they believe God would be there with him. "Whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith". Matthew 21:22)
So, what happened when I died? While writing this testimony, I kept asking God to show me or help me remember what I experienced myself in the hospital. I’ve had what are called ‘selective recalls’ or ‘precognitive dreams’, dreams you have now that happened in the past. One was that I was on the operating table, and God touched my head and said “It’s time to wake up!” From there, He guided the surgeon through the rest of the surgery.
After 2 months, the journey of assessing damages began. I was paralyzed, and couldn’t swallow. Doctor's said I would never walk again or eat on my own due to the amount of damage to nerves they had to cut which controlled walking and movement. I was fed with a feeding tube through my nose. I hated that thing and would do anything to pull it out. My parents tied my hands in gloves so I couldn’t, but I was determined to pull that feeding tube out. One day, my dad came to see me when he got off work. When he walked in my room, he saw that despite my hands being wrapped, I managed to pull the tube out just enough so the liquid went into my lungs. I was immediately rushed to ICU. My parents were told I wouldn't make it through the night because my lungs were so full, causing pneumonia. My parents began calling friends and family to pray. That night my mom stayed in ICU for what could be my last night alive.
My mom remembers sitting in the room while I finally slept. At 2am, a man dressed as a nurse came in with a portable X-ray machine. My mom looked up, thinking “She is sound asleep, don’t touch her.” because I freaked out the moment I saw anyone wearing white. He lifted me to put the film under, took the X-ray and left. I stayed asleep. He never said a word and neither did my mom. She was confused at how I did not wake up. The next morning when the doctors came in, they talked and walked away. My mom followed them and said, “Excuse me, somebody took an X-ray last night.” The doctors said “No, we didn’t order an X-ray.” My mom replied “I’m telling you somebody was in here last night and did an X-ray.” Once again they said “Ma’am, we did not…” my mom cut them off and said “Ok, you may not have ordered it, but somebody came in my daughter’s room last night. Maybe for the wrong patient but somebody was in here.” While this back and forth went on, a nurse ran off and brought back an X-ray with my name on it, but no signature so they could not trace it. It showed that my lungs were crystal clear. Without a shadow of a doubt, we know he was an angel.
I found an old VCR tape of my last day in therapy to teach me to walk again, along with other mobility exercises. On my last day, the nurses and I wanted to go out with a bang. In the video I surprised everyone by walking with a walker by myself. The doctors told us I would never walk or eat through my mouth..basically never be normal, but that wasn’t ok with me. I had become quite a fighter! The room was decorated, we had cake and ice cream...an emotional celebration not only for my parents but for the nurses and hospital staff as well.
Several years later, I had defied all predictions...I could eat normally and not only could I walk, but I could DANCE! I began to participate in Celebration Ministries, Inc. Dance Team. I would dance for God and share my testimony. If you know someone who needs to hear this story...reach out to Celebration Ministries, Inc...They know where to find me!

Testimony of a young CM Member-
This young man has been freed from the power of darkness. See below how he received this victory!
Pornography is one of the worst traps I fell into at an early age (Around 8-9 years old). Not only has it negatively impacted my mind, Emotion, and thought process, but it became an addiction. I went from a couple of times a week to multiple times a day (Roughly, between 3-6 times a day). Growing up, I always told myself that this would be it, I would be done with this the next day and never watch pornography again. But, I always come right back as soon as I felt the itch/urge. It was as if everything in my mind suddenly told me to stop what I was doing and to go let one loose, as if I had no control over what I did. and once I was done, I repeated the same lie that I told yourself over and over “I will never watch pornography again.” Or “This is the last one.” But, the biggest lie that you tell yourself is that you can stop on your own. I believed this lie for so long that pornography followed me from childhood to adulthood and guess what! I only felt worse every time. I fell more and more into a pit of despair and couldn’t find a way out, no matter how hard I tried to climb. I felt stuck, but couldn’t stop as if the devil had me right in his clutches and every time he would knock on my door, even if I was trying my hardest not to act on these urges, I let him in arms wide open. I was always disappointed not only in the choice I made to let him in, but also in myself. I felt the weights of chains on my body holding me down more and more, pulling me into a pit of darkness that I didn’t let anyone see. I felt depression, anger, and sadness. I was constantly screaming at myself wanting to stop this addiction and wanting to have nothing to do with this lustful sin, but never spoke a word as I felt too embarrassed or felt like people would look at me negatively, so I never asked anyone for help. I felt trapped and broken every time I let the devil win. I was fighting a battle that seemed impossible to win, which is when I almost gave up.
It was 9pm and I fell into temptation again, but this time was different. I didn’t feel anger, I didn’t feel depressed or sad. I just felt…numb. I was so close to just giving up and stop trying to win this battle that has been going on for years. It was as if someone/something has finally set a lock on the chains that were wrapped around me all this time. But, even though my faith was so little, I decided to give prayer another try. So I got down on my knees and prayed that this is not the man I want to be anymore, I prayed how I wanted change and how this is not a battle I can do on my own, I prayed for strength to overcome any temptation that was thrown my way, and most importantly, I prayed that I will never give up. And once I finished, I went to bed and let the Lord cover my eyes and guide me into peace and comfort. That’s when the unimaginable happened. I saw Jesus on the end of my bed, sitting down next to me. I felt an overwhelming amount of joy, more joy than when my eyes first laid on lustful content, more joy from anything I ever could imagine. And tears started to fall from my eyes as I was face to face with the Lord’s Son…my Savior…God in the flesh. And He smiled at me. And when I woke up, I did not feel any temptation, I felt the chains break in an instant. I didn’t feel bound by pornography, I felt renewed/changed. and it was then that my faith grew 10 fold. The battle that I was fighting by myself for so long was gone in an instant. The Lord’s presence alone broke the chains and set me free. I felt like a sheep that had been found.
So thank you Lord for breaking my chains, thank you for searching for me even when I wasn’t searching for you, thank you Lord for never giving up on me as I almost gave up on myself, thank you for loving me, thank you Lord for filling my lungs with your air, thank you Lord for giving me strength to fight, and thank you Lord for sending your only Son to die for us. I know this doesn’t mean things will get easier in life and I expect the complete opposite. I may sin again Lord, for I am not perfect and fall short for things of flesh, but please forgive me for you are loving and merciful Lord. And if I ever go astray again Lord, guide me back. Lord, open my ears so I may hear Your words and open my eyes, so I may not be deceived by worldly things. Allow me to act as a wise man who builds his house on stone and not sand. Use my tongue Lord, so I may speak your words. Thank you Lord, thank you. I don’t have much to offer you my Lord, except my soul. Thank you Lord for everything you do. Thank you, thank you, thank you and Amen.
I usually don’t tell people about my addiction, but after what God did. I’m happy every time I can share about it and hopefully get some people to talk about their issues as well. Because if God can break my 12 year addiction like then he can free anyone’s addiction the same way. And I know when I wrote that Jesus just smiled at me, but his presence and smile spoke a million words. It was insane how comforting it was for him to just be there with me.
This testimony is one of millions like it. Contact Celebration Ministries, Inc. if you are ready to be free from this addiction…We care!
From Abuse to Ministry- Dave Collins
“You intended to harm me, but God intended it for good to accomplish what is now being done, the saving of many lives”. Genesis 50:20
It’s kind of funny how, after being in ministry for so many years, I’ve noticed that people tend to minister in areas related to their own pain. Such is the case with me...
When I was a child, I was told that I wanted to be with Jesus so badly that I stepped in front of a car. Obviously, I didn’t go to be with Jesus at that time, because somebody pulled me back. This was the beginning of the Lord's calling on my life.
When I was seven years old, I began to be sexually molested by a family member. He was old enough to know that what he was doing was wrong, but I was naive enough not to understand. After three years of abuse, I realized what was happening was wrong, and began to reject it.
Five years later, this family member “came out of the closet,” propelling me into a form of rebellion. I know that ‘wide is the path of destruction’, so if Satan couldn’t get me to go one way, he got me to go the other. I tried to become a “Don Juan” type of person—a player, a successful heterosexual playboy. This led me down a destructive path of hurting other people, including myself, both morally and spiritually. I began to use alcohol to medicate the underlying pain of the abuse I had suffered as a child. The abuse also tainted my natural emotional and spiritual development, causing me to become hardened to the idea of a loving God. How could a loving God allow something so terrible to happen to an innocent child?
“So be careful to do what the LORD your God has commanded you; do not turn aside to the right or to the left. Walk in obedience to all that the LORD your God has commanded you, so that you may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.” Deuteronomy 5:22
As a young adult, this person promoted the gay lifestyle to me, which I rejected, and reacted with more promiscuity. However, as God began to open my eyes, I came to a realization through a secular perspective: if there was an organized force behind evil, then there had to be an organized force behind good. However, at that point in my life, I was not yet willing to fully accept God. I was still agnostic, searching for answers and trying to make sense of what I was beginning to see.
God began to bring people into my life who helped me see that He is real. I gave my life to Christ and was baptized soon afterward. Seeking release from the demonic strongholds in my life resulting from the abuse and other family iniquities, I searched for spiritual freedom. One Sunday morning, after searching and searching, I heard a message about demonic strongholds and was absolutely set free! I experienced a filling of the Holy Spirit unlike anything I had ever experienced before. I was laughing and crying, and an arm that had been in severe pain was now tingling and free from pain. The words of a worship song now have tremendous meaning to me because they express exactly what I saw and felt.
“And then my feet came off the ground
You lifted me above the clouds
As I look down the whole world seems so small
Past the stars through space and time
And I forget what's left behind
As I'm surrounded by these grander things
Up here in perfect harmony
You're orchestrating galaxies
They're lighting up as far as I can see
The majesty
The mystery”
-
Gravity - song by Jenn Johnson 2017
As a new Christian, I tried to reach out to this person to offer forgiveness. At that point in my Christian walk, I was not well-educated in these matters, so I did not yet understand that forgiveness had to take place in my heart, not merely through my words. Tragically, when I spoke about forgiveness, I was met with gaslighting and blame-shifting. The responsibility was turned back on me, and I was made to feel as though I was an agent of the abuse rather than the victim—which is what I actually was. This setback caused more damage in my life. Though I was in a pure relationship with a godly woman, the wounding and trauma found some old ways to act out, I referred to them as ‘victimless sins’, which could not be further from the truth. Rather than choosing to be healed and allow God to change me, I brought this destruction into my marriage, spreading the pain and damaging more people.
As for Satan’s works in my life, God is using them to minister to other men. In The King's Men group, we help men pursue sexual integrity and purity. Through ministry, phone calls, and prayer, I have encountered dozens of men whose stories have a very common thread…early childhood sexual abuse. As I continue to help other men with integrity and purity, I also continue to battle the damage that was done to my own emotional development and maturity, as well as its effect on my marriage. I see other men continuing to struggle with opportunities to exercise healthy leadership and pastoral care in their homes. I am no different. I freely proclaim that Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. However, the damage can still be seen when I am weak in my flesh. I will not be dismayed. I will survive, and I will thrive under the leadership of the Holy Spirit.
Pancreatic tumor testimony- Cynthia Collins
I was diagnosed with Pancreatic cancer in 2001. I had studied healing for years but when it hit home, it was terrifying. I began having chest area pain and symptoms in 2001, so went to a Surgeon, the father of one of my students, thinking I may have a hernia or something. He ran a series of tests which showed a large tumor wrapped in and around my pancreas. He ordered another barrage of tests to see whether they would do chemo, surgery, or whatever, saying that he did not like the way it was behaving. Dave was the only one I discussed it with at this point, because I felt like I wanted to have answers to the questions my family and friends would surely be asking me. I didn't even tell my church, deciding to wait for more info.
I didn’t know what to do while waiting, so I began doing things that were truly important and leaving the busyness alone. I scrap booked, spent time with family, journaled, and reached out to friends but I didn’t tell anyone else about the cancer. Between the diagnosis and the next set of tests, I got very serious with God. On the one hand, I couldn't stop thinking about the imminence of seeing God face-to-face. I really can't wait for that moment! But on the other hand, I did not feel like I was finished here yet. I had a baby, a tween and a teen. I was teaching Art in Middle School, which was really just a 'front' for using Art to share Christ with the age group God gave me a passion for. I also directed Celebration Ministries, at the time a ministry of girls on fire for God and sharing His name through dance around the Central Florida area. This group provided another outlet to get real and minister to the teen age group I love. I just didn't feel FINISHED. I told God "If you are ready to bring me face to face with you, then I am ready! If not, Thy will be done". A peace came over me, a peace that whatever happened was ok, and I gave it completely to Him.
The next day I had more medical tests scheduled to determine treatment options, if any. I still felt the peace, and I actually felt GREAT! On the way out the door, the phone rang. It was one of my praying friends, who told me she didn’t know why, but God had directed her to pray for me nonstop during the last 24 hours…Hmmm… They said the doctor would call me with the results the next day or so. Instead, he called me on the way home on my 'carphone' as it was called in those days lol. He said: "I am not sure what happened, but I have one set of tests that says you have a very serious cancerous tumor, wrapped in and around your pancreas, a most likely fatal condition, and another set that says you are completely healthy. Not only that," he continued, "your scans look like that of someone a decade younger than you are! I have no other explanations except that It looks like a miracle. Call me if you have any more problems!"
By the time I told my family, friends, and church, it was a praise REPORT instead of prayer REQUEST. My grandmother was especially affected by my story. When I told her, she got very quiet and reported that it was a hereditary condition, and that two family members on my dad’s side had died from it at around my age. (I was 38.) She saw them struggle and finally pass, so she began to cry when she realized the connection.
I do not understand everything about how God's healings work. I know it has a lot to do with faith, but it is so much more complicated. Everyone will die one day, that is a fact. Our job is to bear as much fruit as we can, so we can bring glory to Him for as long as we have. If the enemy tries to take us before that time, whether through the curses in the world, or direct attack, the Word says he does not have that authority. We have authority over Him in Jesus name in those circumstances. He also does not have authority to use heredity or blood lines to transfer illness without God's permission. Most people hear that their illness is a family 'thing', and they just accept it into their lives. They give the illness permission! We also have the right, as His children and joint heirs in the kingdom, to ask for personal favor in special circumstances. There are even times in the Word where God changes His mind based on requests of His people, like when He wanted to kill His chosen race for worshipping the golden calf, and Moses talked Him out of it!
Still, it is a mystery why some get healed and others don't, even when faith, favor, and request are present. In addition, most of Jesus' healings were deliverances, not from sicknesses but from demonic presences that causes sicknesses. If an illness is caused by a demon from heredity, you have authority over it. If it is caused by a demon received from personal sin, then the sin must first be repented for and healed. Sometimes, illness is consequence for sin or mistreatment of our temples, like from drugs, tobacco, unholy relationships, or even just unhealthy eating. Again, this can be healed if you recognize, take responsibility, and repent. As you know, I had a lot of things to repent for! Sometimes it is consequence for someone else's sin, and isn't fair at all, like when a baby gets sick from second hand smoke, or drugs a mother takes when she is pregnant. You cannot accept condemnation for lack of faith just because you are sick. Job's friends tried to tell him it must be his own fault that he was having so many struggles.
The enemy has his bases covered. One thing I know for sure, that God truly knows what He is doing, and the more we seek first HIS kingdom,
the closer we are to His perfect will in our lives. Hallelujah! See 'Topic Writings' Page '3 Things Jesus Accomplished on the Cross'
